Let me create something for you to mangle
I remember talking to someone who was a graphic artist for a large insurance company. He was frustrated because he would create brochures and promotional materials and then had to present them to the CEO of the company. The CEO would tell him to change colors, move this here, change that font. The CEO had no graphic background. It was frustrating to the specialist.

Wow I hate it when this happens.. it is one of the worst things in the professional environment. It is trapping a person with a special competence, cutting off them arms so that they may not perform what they are capable of. Fair enough to give input, and to work together to make an improvement but it is never a good thing when a person feels like their voice is not being heard when they actually know what they are talking about.
Don't even get me started, I have seen it so much in my traineeship here, and it is all I can do not scream out... GIVE THEM FREEDOM, Let them do what they do best. Give them some space, let them shine.
But at the same time, I remember what one of out BOD members said to us in Australia when I was on the MC team there. If people are not seeing what you have to say, not hearing your voice - what can you do to make them see your point. It may take awhile but eventually if you communicate it in the right way you can get through... that was another perspective that was helpful aswell.
Good discussion point though,

in this case an employee should take refuge in being blissfully disgruntled
