As this guy writes, I've often pondered why someone, while telling a story, would categorize non-whites while not categorizing whites. You hear it all the time and it is a constant reminder that the idea of color is still too foreign to too many people.

on the flip, it's hopeful--in a way. you know, that white has become white. like all those books, How the Irish Became White or How Jews Became White Folks and What That Says About Race in America. If race can systematically change--what about if there's some consciousness that helps it along?
